The event took place on 10 June 2026 under the auspices of the Italian Embassy in Athens
and was opened by the director of the Italian Cultural Institute, Francesco Neri.
The event was co-organised by the Italian Cultural Institute, the Department of History,
Italian Literature and European Culture at the University of Athens,
the Michalis Kakogiannis Foundation and the daily newspaper ‘To Vima’.

The event was co-organised by the Italian Cultural Institute, the Department of History, Italian Literature and European Culture at the University of Athens, the Michalis Kakogiannis Foundation and the daily newspaper To Vima. Before the presentations began, a discussion took place between the editor-in-chief of To Vima, Periklis Dimitrolopoulos, and the journalist and columnist Antonis Karpetopoulos. Speakers included Riccardo Fedriga, scientific director of the Umberto Eco Foundation; Gianna Giannoulopoulou, a linguist from the Department of Italian Language and Philology; Michele Cogo, director of the Bottega Finzioni – ETS Foundation; Ioannis Tsolkas, professor of the History of Italian Literature and European Culture and chair of the Department of Italian Language and Philology at the University of Athens; Helena Lozano Miralles, translator of Umberto Eco’s works and associate professor at the University of Trieste; Giorgos Arampatzis, professor of Byzantine Philosophy at the Department of Philosophy, University of Athens. Also taking part in the proceedings was Giouli Deliopoulou Papachristofilou, from the publishing house Ellinika Grammata – Pedio, and the journalist Makis Provatas.
