The Island of the Day Before

The Fondazione Umberto Eco , in collaboration with the Braidense National Library, CNR-ILIESI, and MetaLab – Harvard University, presents an exhibition and public engagement project aimed at highlighting the work and thought of Umberto Eco. The exhibition unfolds through a narrative built around the original and captivating images of the novel The Island of the Day Before, drawn from the literary and scientific holdings of his collection of rare books, as well as from the collections of the Braidense Library, complemented by evocative digital reconstructions and the author’s preparatory materials.
The exhibition will take place in Milan, at the Braidense Library, from October to December 2026, and is conceived as a journey through time across literature, history, science, and voyages through the seas of the South.
